2 days trip in Las Vegas

During Feb 17 and Feb 18, I went to Vegas with my best friend.

I am a person who very love travelling. But many times, I went travel with my parents, they planned all the activities and places we went, and I just followed them. Or I just attend a tour which has a guide to guide me around the places of interest. 

But this trip is different! Because here is not guide and we plan all by ourselves! In a strange foreign city for us!

We bought a round trip ticket on St. George shuttle web page. It first took us an hour arrived at St. George, then we need to wait 45 minutes that the next bus took us to Las Vegas. In total we needed about 3.5 hours. 

We sleep in an American couple’s house for one night.(We found on the app called Airbnb.)

When we arrived Vegas, we first called a Uber to pick us up to Chinatown. We had lunch at Chinatown a restaurant called "Taste of Chengdu". Finished lunch, we took a Uber to find where our house is. It is a really nice house! And the American couple are very friendly for us. We had a short chat with them. They showed us where has good stuff to buy and where has good food to eat. So later in the afternoon. We followed the instruction which the couple show us and we went shopping in Fashion show,  is a big department store.

This trip is our wonderful memory ever. Before we set up the trip, we were afraid of being in a strange place, but finally we made it! It's super amazing memory for being with so many strangers. It didn't feel like in the school.  After that trip, I found myself had develop time management and plan skills. And also having more courage talking with strangers, because in a strange area we needed to find all the way by ourselves or we needed to asked the strangers how to get to the place. 

Women's gymnastics

At seven o'clock on Friday night, I went to the student center to see the women's gymnastics competition near the American first. This is our school against a school in California(I forgot the name of the school!)

This is the first time I watched a gymnastics match on the spot. The content of this gymnastics competition is divided into four parts. They are: vault, balance beam, uneven bars and floor exercise.👍

Both our school and our rival schools performed very well. It seems that I feel that their level is similar to that of the gymnasts I used to watch at the Olympics. Very exciting game!

Chinese Spring Festival -- Lunar New Year!

On February 6th, our school held a Chinese Lunar New Year event. But most of the participants are foreigners! Maybe the free food has attracted them!😆

A lot of people took part in this event, the event was held in Ballroom, and the people who lined up and queued from Ballroom to Chick-fit-A before the event started! It's amazing!😱😱😱 But as you can see from the video above, this event is enough to accommodate so many people!

Most of the performances on the stage are Chinese songs studied by foreigners, as well as Chinese second brothers who have studied with foreign children, followed by Chinese ancient costumes and a little Chinese Kung Fu performance.

I don't know how these programs are in the eyes of foreigners. I feel that many of the Chinese songs they sing are only understandable by Chinese people. But I am very grateful to the school for hosting Chinese Lunar New Year activities for Chinese students. Many of the Chinese children's songs sung by children are the children's songs that I learned when I was a child. These children's songs have caused my childhood memories.😊😊😊💓

The food provided by this activity is "Chinese food". Why should I put quotes? Because I don't even know where this is from Chinese food! ! I have never eaten such Chinese food.😂😂😂But also very delicious.

What made me HAPPY in this event was ！！！ It had red packet!!!😍😍

It was my only red packet this year, although it just had one cent.😛😛

RED RED RED -- MEN'S BASKETBALL!

At 6:30 pm on February 7th, I watched the SUU vs. WSU men's basketball game with my friends at the school basketball hall. A few days before the start of the game, the school promoted the game everywhere, and of course "toilet time."😆

   There are also students who are distributing fluorescent sticks at "T-Bird Circle".

The representative color of our school is red. The school recommends that everyone wear red clothes. On the day of the competition, many people in the entire campus wear red clothes to cheer the basketball team.👏👏

   The game started, and the stools on the sides of the stadium were filled with people. In addition to the students of the school, there are many residents of this age, and the elderly and children are watching the game. The atmosphere at the scene is too active!😃

  The basketball players in our school have performed very well! We finally got a 12-point difference with WSU and won the game. In my mind, the 22nd is the best! I like him so much, his movements are neat, it is the captain of our basketball team, leading the team to attack and defend.😍💪👍

My opinion of "The Future of Work".

In this era of more and more advanced technology, "AI" artificial intelligence robots have emerged, and more and more work can be replaced by technology or robots. I agree with what is stated in this article. It is more important to have skills than good grades. Good grades are not difficult to get, every day sign in class, homework is completed. In fact, many students are ‘nerds’. Many students focus on textbooks but lack practical practice. This gives them excellent results, but they are at a loss in their work practices.
But my opinion is different from the author. I think colleges and universities are still very useful. These places are a small society, with people from all over the world, all kinds of people, and letting students experience different people in college. It is also an exercise. There are many famous universities in the world, there are many senior professors, and the knowledge they teach is very valuable. Otherwise, why do many students now want to go to college instead of going to high school to find a job?

There are many unpredictable things in colleges and universities. I haven't thought about my future. I have set my own major and have a goal through the study of  multiple courses, rich after-school life, and club activities. Now new nontraditional education is proliferating, students have more chance to experience work skills. Although overreliantce on colleges or universities degrees is not right, college degrees is really a way to compare students' knowledge. Our society will be more thrive if we can train our students to be both literate and skilled.
